PayIt provides an award-winning platform that enables governments to simplify interactions with their constituents. By accessing websites within that platform, and using our web and mobile applications, you accept the use of cookies in accordance with this policy or any alternate policy provided by the specific site or application. This policy is in addition to any other Terms of Use/Service, policy, or contract provision for the PayIt service being used. If you do not accept the use of cookies, please disable them as explained below.

What is a Cookie?

Cookies are widely used and allow a website to recognize a user’s device, without uniquely identifying the individual person using the computer.

Cookies are text files containing small amounts of information which are downloaded to your device when you visit a website. Cookies are then sent back to the originating website on each subsequent visit, or to another website that recognizes that cookie. Cookies are useful because they allow a website to recognize a device. Cookies enable navigation between websites efficiently, allowing the services to recall preferences and improve user experience.

These technologies make it easier for users to log on and use websites; to enable the site to recall preferences (such as username, language, etc.) for a certain period of time; to establish anonymized statistics about the browsing experience on our websites; and to provide feedback to PayIt as to which parts of the website are visited, which allows services to assess the efficacy of the site to provide a better user experience.

The primary types of cookies:

  • First-party cookies are cookies set by the website you’re visiting. Only that website can read them. In addition, a website might potentially use external services, which also set their own cookies, known as third-party cookies.
  • Persistent cookies are cookies saved on your device and that are not deleted automatically when you quit your browser.

Cookie management

Browser Cookie Management

The ability to disable or delete cookies can be managed by changing your browser’s settings. To do this, follow the instructions provided by your browser, which are usually found in the “Help,” “Settings,” or “Preferences” areas of your browser.

Your mobile device may also include browser settings that allow you to manage the use of cookies, especially if the device supports installing apps such as iOS and Android devices. iOS and Android devices also include additional device settings that control whether advertising partners can use information about your app activity for advertising purposes. You can find these options in both the iOS and Android “Privacy” settings menus on each respective device type.

PayIt Website Cookie Management

Every time you visit a PayIt-managed website, you will be prompted to accept our cookie policy. Please review the guidance published by the UK Information Commissioner’s Office and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada for further information on and guidance around controlling and managing cookies.

Third-Party Opt-Out Management

The major online advertising industry groups offer tools to limit how cookies are used for advertising purposes by participating third parties. More information is available on these sites from the Network Advertising Initiative, the Digital Advertising Alliance, and for users in the EU, the European Interactive Digital Advertising Alliance. Also, Google provides web users with the Google Analytics Opt-Out Browser Add-On to prevent the collection of data via Google Analytics.

Privacy and Security

PayIt’s Privacy Policy details the data that we collect, which includes data from cookies, and how it is stored, shared, and secured.
