KANSAS CITY, MO. – Kansas City, MO-based PayIt, an award-winning provider for digital government, today announced its founder and CEO John Thomson has been appointed as one of five new members of the board for the National World War I Museum and Memorial. Thomson was chosen because of his dedication to the organization’s mission of remembering, interpreting and understanding the Great War and its enduring impact on the global community.

“My father served in the military, and I’ve always had a great deal of respect and appreciation for everyone who has served,” Thomson said. “The National WWI Museum and Memorial is an incredible part of Kansas City history and American history. Its impact is truly global. Every time I visit I learn something new, and I am always inspired by the stories of dedication, courage and sacrifice. And while World War I happened more than 100 years ago, the museum and memorial share lessons that are still relevant for all of us today.”

Other new board members selected with Thomson include:

  • Andrew Deister, Russell Stover Chocolates, President and CEO
  • Katrina Henke, Milbank Manufacturing, Board Chair
  • Dale Klose, PNC Bank, Executive Vice President and Kansas City Regional President
  • Thomas F. Whittaker, J. E. Dunn Construction Company, Executive Vice President, Secretary and Chief Legal Officer

“The National WWI Museum and Memorial has a long tradition of support from leading members of the business and philanthropic community in Kansas City,” Thomson said. “I’m honored to serve alongside my fellow new board members and existing board members to do our best to help people connect to the history and stories of World War I. In particular, I think there are tremendous opportunities to make the museum and memorial even more accessible by digital devices to reach a broader audience.”
