Will Weatherford

Being a former government leader, the topic of “modernization” is very familiar to Will Weatherford. As the 84th Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives, serving from 2012 to 2014, he was a strong advocate for social upward mobility through free enterprise and education reform. He was also a thought leader on other pro-growth solutions, including lower taxes, pension reform and free market health care. Will also created the first mobile app for any legislative body at the Florida House of Representatives.

Will brings to the PayIt board deep experience in the financial investment industry. Currently, he is the Managing Partner at Weatherford Partners, an investment and strategic advisory firm. Will spent six years as a board director at Florida Traditions Bank before they were sold in 2014. He also founded Red Eagle Group, a boutique investment and business consulting firm.

Will currently serves on the board of directors of Sunshine Bankcorp, the Florida Chamber of Commerce, the National Coalition for Capital, the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition, the Republican State Leadership Committee and Jobs for America’s Graduates. Will has also served as a Rodel Fellow at the Aspen Institute.

Government moves into the 21st century

PayIt’s mobile technology platform is a great idea that’s been a long-time coming. I think most state agencies are ready to move into the 21st century with their citizens. People think of government as old, archaic and out of date. That can be true, but it doesn’t have to be. PayIt puts new opportunity for innovation right at their fingertips.

There’s no reason why you can bank with your phone but can’t do the same with your government transactions. It’s what people are expecting now and in the future. And I think government leaders recognize that it’s a challenge. So the timing of PayIt’s solution is exceptional.

A better view of the citizen-government experience

I’m most excited about changing the way government interacts with people by providing more transparency and better visibility into how the public sector works for citizens. And it goes beyond financial transactions, it’s about engaging citizens the way they want to be engaged.

It’s terrific to be part of PayIt’s unique focus on bringing that better experience and better service to the citizen-government relationship.
